Solar powered Christmas lights

Just bought a string of outside fairy lights to twine through the archway into the back garden, working off solar power. The reviews looked good,so hoping they will look pretty for Christmas, and help light my way when I pop out to pick a few veg!

 

I found they only last an hour or so after dark at this time of year, sun's a bit low in the sky.

 

I've got some dragonfly solar lights draped over one half of an archway and meandering along the fence to the left. If the sun is bright, I get a good three to four hours of "glow"; on an overcast day, that will drastically reduce to about an hour. The sensors are in full sun aspect.

They do look inviting and pretty when they are glowing though. Hope you enjoy yours

 

I struggle to imagine a solar powered Christmas light, but maybe one day, when seasons will be so mixed up that we will have a sunny and warm month of December....

 

With the old calendar, before they realised we take 365 and a quarter days to go round the sun, the calendar got so out of time with the seasons that christmas was happening in the middle of summer.

 

Solar lights are for life; not just Christmas

 

I think there was 17 days of drift between the Julian and the Gregorian calendar. The peasants of limited intellect took up arms when the king of the day decreed that the calendar would be advanced accordingly, as people thought that they were losing 17 days of their life.

 

A dog is not just for Christmas, there should be some left over for Boxing Day too.

They are great! They Arrived at around 2pm on a sunny day, and we had several hours of twinkles. The next day was overcast, and we had nothing. But with the recent crisp days, with blue skies, we've managed several hours each night. nothing tonight though, after the heavy mist all day today.
Very pleased with them indeed.

 

A question.
Could it be possible to place the sensor inside (next to a lamp)?
Would that let the lights show until the room lights are switched off and then decay over time?
Is it a daft question - or what??
