Almost looks conker like, Aesculus species of some kind maybe but the prickly bits tend to say no to that idea.
Can we have pictures from other angles please.
Did it make all that growth this year?

I will get more pics tomorrow. It grew like that within two weeks. We had then pulled up a tomato plant that big which suddenly appeared. These were in the large pot the giant three Mandevillas are in.

Looks a bit like Sweet Chestnut, but the leaf edges aren't right.

Is it one plant or a cluster of seedlings.

Morning. One plant about a foot tall. Many leaf stalks with the prickly thing in the axis. It has a root ball not a nut. There are little leaves at the base of the big ones.

I am not up yet but will get more photos later ... it was pulled up so hope it is good to photo.

Ah ha. Could it be a Cleome? I planted some seeds at the base of the Schinus molle Pepper Tree which was in that pot earlier this year. The entire root ball came up but the pot was not cleaned out.

No, thank you, Ss. Now I shall go out and find a sunny spot to plant it. You may think that strange here but I have large Jacaranda, Melaleuca, Callistemon and Viburnum shading most everything.
