I love big fancy frilly begonias, but always have trouble starting them off... usually they're just getting into their stride by the time October comes.
Now i've got the greenhouse, can I start them in there? Anyone got any tips for these gaudy beauties, please? [IMG]

I have the Flambouyant Begonias Liz,i store the tubers thru winter, then generally in early March i start them off in trays with a small amount of compost underneath ,watering regularly til the shoots appear.Next i pot them up til they are ready to go out.
Thats purely my way mind, don't know what others do.

Thanks Gogs, shall try that. I have been putting them in bigger pots straight away, and half of them don't shoot. I also have problems with amounts of water I think I drown things.

I do the same as Gogs, Liz, but I wait till early/mid April.
Seed trays, and just settle them in, but not covered, then when potting I cover the tuber with an inch or so compost usually when the shoots are a couple of inches high in late May.
