Hi everyone, I decided to get some of the basic herbs for cooking. I started some seeds off a few weeks ago but I got some live pots from the supermarket this morning only a £1 each, they're going in pots so just wondering what's the best potting mix? I have basil, chives, curly parsley and mint. Thanks. 20210609_135259.jpg

I have all four in my garden. They grow in a mix of 50% sand and 50% regular bagged flower soil. My parsley is now about a metre high and the other grow as well...

      Except....

..... For basil. I just can't seem to get it to grow. Slugs love it, and it seems the soil is not what it is looking for. So if you find something out, let me know.

Chives and Parsley grow in ordinary soil no problem, Mint needs a bit of well rotted manure as well. For pots I would suggest a soil based compost like John Innes 3 for the above. For basil I use a peat based MPC and keep it in full sun and well watered.
