I have had grape hyacinths growing (and spreading themselves around) in my garden for many years. This year several clumps look very different ...the heads are large, dense and feathery and cone shaped.....quite attractive.I have pictures but i don't seem to be able to send them on here.Anybody got any ideas on why this has happened?

I would hazard a guess that something has damaged the bulb either physically or a virus - how about digging a bulb up and taking a look, outside and inside. Not sure what virus effect these - they are usually very robust.
