      Water lily, as jiffy mentioned, so nice and easy with quite a few to choose from. I have a small pond , with frogs, loads of newts ,tadpoles and other creatures. 8 ft x 10ft x 30" roughly, any big plants would quickly take over. I chose 2 Lilies with 1 meter, or thereabouts, spread the one is creamy yellow with strong yellow center the other off white with yellow center...going from memory. These are now just breaking the surface for this years display. The frogs , newts and snails use them to sit on or hide under.

        I bought mine from the Kent Garden Show in 2013 ... but, I'll keep my eye out for some locally

                    @wiseowl - be prepared to bring them indoors if a frost is expected. They don't like the cold.

                    PS: Hope you don't regret getting four ... with your size pond I would think one would have been enough. Pop any excess in your compost bin when you can no longer see any water ;)
