Over the last couple of months I have been watching some of the new detective/murder/mystery T/V programmes,it may be me,(in my Dithering Age):old:,but I find them trying to be Toooo clever.
Example: 'The Missing', I watched it from the start to the finish, but what a finish!!,
it left me scratching my head, 'and it wasn't nits!, what was that ending all about?..

Why do they not make more programmes like: Minder,Taggart, Bergerac,Poirot,The Sweeney,
to mention a few, easy to follow ,the plots don't tax the brain tooo much, relaxing viewing.

    The modern Murder/Mystery/Detection Programmes have:

More' Red Herrings' than they have in the Atlantic,
And by the time I try to explain it to my wife I've missed half the programme, and it starts an argument between us:mad:.

Hope You Enjoy Your Relaxing Viewing.:dbgrtmb:.

Been watching Broadchurch, only to see the shots of around here, no one in real life behaves like the characters in it.

Didn't notice the plot at all :dunno:

TV programmes are a load of rubbish, which is why my DVD collection keeps growing. The only thing I never miss on TV is the ITV News, after that I put on a DVD.

Good series but the ending was total shino! The same as Broadchurch - what was that ending all about!

I never used to but the post war series I really liked. Less nice and all the better for it.

I've just watched the last series of Spiral (been hooked on this since series one) and it is still quality. And I'm just working my way through Wallander on BBC iPlayer even though I've seen them all before as I think that it's one of the best series ever made (right up there with NYPD Blue).
Also on iPlayer is a series called Hinterland which is a BBC Wales production. I recommend that.

BBC 4 is worth keeping an eye on. At the moment they are showing Smileys People (again) which still stands up as good drama. It's about time that they re-ran The Shadowline in my opinion.

Me and Mr Jane still worship this god once a week, while we stuff our faces with scones.

                        It wasn't his son.
It was the father drawing the pictures.
He'd been driven demented by it all.

A police drama I really enjoyed was BBC 2 "Line of Duty".
But have to agree that the old familiars above are still really watchable.
I also like the new productions of Sherlock, both film and TV series.
As a tenuous link to the law, (Cromwell being a lawyer) I would also say that Wolf Hall was a really good watch.
As an aside, I am really looking forward to the new Poldark series, I loved the books and the 70s TV series, just hope this new offering doesn't disappoint.

That was good and was probably better than Peaky Blinders which is also very good.
The Shadowline is still the best thing that the Beeb have done in many, many years though.
