Looks like early blight to me:
      Alternaria | AHDB Potatoes

Not as fast spreading and destructive as late blight but a nasty problem non the less.

image.jpg Just been up to the lotty and harvested the anya and vivaldis. The anyas were almost ready to pick anyway. The vivaldis would have been excellent if they could have stayed in a few more weeks. Got a big bucket full though.

The roosters are all fine. I picked one out if curiosity and it was a bit wilty and the potatoes are coming on nicely.

Me again, as a Potato growing newbie I'll be asking lots of question before the season is finished...do I hear groaning?:)
Well I have been furtling like a goodun and all was looking really rather promising. Lots of lovely salad Potatoes so great joy, however, the smile was wiped off my face when i decided to lift a few whole plants as couldn't find enough furtling and it was raining so in a hurry. I lifted 3 Belle de Fontenay which have been lovely and 1 plant has got scab:wallbanging:. never seen it before but checked on the net and sure enough. Funny how the plant to the left and right are fine but all the remaining spuds on this 1 plant are covered, very annoying. The ground the Potatoes are growing in a on the acidic side (meant to be better for scab than alkali I read) and for certain no Potatoes have been grown in the whole of my garden or as far as the eye can see around here for at least 16 years probably more like 30 years. So was the seed Potato infected or is it just 1 of those things? I have a lot of other varieties all growing close by, am i in for more nasty surprises when I start to lift them? All the foliage on all the plants looks absolutely fine but suppose you never know until you starting lifting the plants? Am I best to bin the infected Potatoes or peal off the scabby bits? Should I lift the rest of the same variety asap. I hope the answer to this question is no as while I like Potatoes perhaps not for breakfast lunch and supper:) Why is gardening so infuriating, you are sailing along nicely and them some bu..er be it flaming animal, insect, infection, or all three appear to keep your feet planted firmly on the ground:mute::mute::mute:

                  English translation....

Don't worry about potato scab, whilst it can affect storage properties its not something to be concerned about :)

The Duke of York I planted are now flowering ... does that mean I can harvest them after they have finished flowering?

If it were easy peasy lemon squeezy we wouldn't appreciate the successes ;) and that means, we would miss out on that wonderful, excited, self-satisfied feeling when all our hard work, tending and care are rewarded :wub2:

Mother Nature also has her bad crops/days - you are not alone.

Yes "M" - go for it - there will probably be some decent sized ones there already depending on when you planted.
