The toppington serrano chillies are still going! They are thirsty plants and get a bit droopy if not watered every other day. Chilli production is in full swing despite them sitting on a windowsill! Currently have about 10 chillies growing with more flowers and therefore more chillies on the way.

If they come off the plant easily, they are ready. I accidentally knocked one off this morning whilst watering (whoops) so decided to try some raw and cooked in my lunch and see what they were like.

The answer is: ace!! The pepper itself wasn't quite ready, still tasted a bit green, but the spice of the pepper was good - not too hot but tasty and tingly. I am definitely not a naga person!! Looking forward to when they ripen (if they ripen!) and creating some more food with them then - and collecting seeds for next year!

This is possibly where I could do a bit better - haven't been around much the past week or so, and have only managed irregular watering! Hopefully this week will be a bit better, with less droopy plants!! Thanks for the tip @shiney :) :spinning:

I personally don't water mine at all this year ...... My chillis in my tunnel are all on an Autopot system, just fill up the main tank and let them water themselves, that said, I'm finding I need to fill up every 4 or 5 days (the tanks are 400 litres each and I have 2 :) )

All behind this year, mostly due to the weather being super hot & then dull for weeks - hopefully it will settle down now & the plants will stop sulking:

On the other hand, the cucumbers have enjoyed the last couple of weeks !

I've had quite a few Padrons already..... Simply fry in olive oil until blistered turn then cook until blistered again, crack sea salt over and enjoy

:wallbanging:My 'Joes Long' from T&M's seeds :wallbanging:

                    joes long.JPG

And below is what they should look like, from T&M's website :wallbanging:
And only one out the whole packet germinated :wallbanging::wallbanging:
So that's lost me my crop of them for this year :wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:
And lost me seeds to save for next year :wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:
And if I complained now they'd maybe send some of seeds that should be sown this year as a replacement that wouldn't germinate at all next year :wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:

That is why I avoid T&M these days too many wrong plants in the past, I often wonder why anyone buys from them.

We grew Jo Long last year (only because someone gave the plant to us) and it was disappointing. It looked like a cross between the two pictures you posted and there was no heat at all.

@Scrungee , have you considered growing Pusa Jwala ?

A lovely chilli which grows a HUGE amount of chilli's on one plant and is the most widely grown chilli in India..... If you want any seed, let me know, as I'll have plenty ;)

I grew Chillis (Chenzo) for the 1st time last year. I ended up bringing the plants indoors from the greenhouse to ripen the Chillis as the season was coming to an end and my greenhouse isn't heated. I managed to overwinter a couple of plants and they are now in their 2nd season. They have ripened "fruits" much quicker than any I have grown from seed this year.
I have loads of red Chillis on the plants and not sure exactly the optimum time to pick them? Am I best to pick as required or pick and freeze the ones that are red?
Also, is there any point in trying to keep these older plants going for another season? I am growing quite a few other Chilli plants from seed this year c/o shiney:). These are groaning with Chillis and are on the turn colour wise but a bit behind the older plants understandably.
