Two weeks away from home, my son was left in charge with written instructions.

My first attempt at cucumber growing has been touch and go, not knowing whether they'd survive or not, but perseverence has paid off. Just two plants I've grown. The cu's were only a couple of inches long when I left and I've come home to these.

Suttons cucumber F1 Baribal, female flowering. I've picked the first one today, it has a mild flavour and the thin skin isn't bitter. Length about 8 to ten inches. I'm pleased with the result.

Excuse the plate, it's the only light coloured one I have. Tesco's circa 1980! :heehee:

      Blooming good Sheal,

mine are still tiny and hairy.

You ought to take that plate to the Antiques Road Show now, early Tesco's is quite collectable.

You have to remember, South Wales is, mainly, English speaking. My generation were banned by the British government from speaking Welsh. We suffered apartheid, the same as South Africa.
