I think in this case it won’t be too bad. Once I remove the glass, nails and rotten battens (on top of the rafters) then scraping off the old putty will be quite simple. Then it’s strip the paint, replace battens, paint, replace glass plus new panes with putty... All sounds so simple lol. Won’t be happening until next spring anyway and will all need drying out

Thanks John, it’s on the outskirts of Woking so everything is just about as pricey as one could hope for lol

I've got the landscape survey now so can start thinking about garden layout :)

@NigelJ do you want to come along and sort mine out. :heehee: No putty as the glass all comes slotted into 5ft x 2.5ft panels. It's the wood that's rotten. I erected it in 1976. :old:

I was in Woking a week past Friday - not far at all from where I live.

Looks like a cracking project Andy, and will be a lovely home when you have it renovated and have your own stamp on it. I for one am looking forward to seeing those gardens changing under your stewardship.

I know quite a few trades if you need them - from plumbers and gas installers (all fully registered) through to carpenters, so if you find yourself in need, just give me a shout.

@shiney 1976 that's about the time I was working on my father's project. If I lived closer I would give a hand.

Planning for the house is going in today! I have a very rough idea of the garden but obviously will firm it up over time. Looks like I might be able to fit in some form of walled garden around the greenhouse area which could be fun, a Japanese feel area with acers in the top right which is here the machine shed is being relocated. On that note I'll make a porch / stoop so I can get a rocking chair and shotgun and drink rye out of a tin cup lol

They'll be a large lawn area and probably enough space down the side of the house for a veg area. So many options!

Very very very... likely to change but here you can sort of see a rough idea plus the extension as well!

A good position if the sun's not blocked by trees or buildings. :blue thumb:
