In case anyone is wondering, PPE stands for Premature Potato Extraction.

This is caused by excessive furtling and leads to a condition in which the grower is unable to reap the potentially much bigger, more satisfying rewards by staying the course.

Gold goes to entry E, silver to B and bronze to S.

      This was my entry:

But, just take a look at where the amazing gold winning entry came from:

And, they were all grown in a single 14L bucket!

cor, @misterQ - there were a lot of potatoes in that bucket! Well done! :) Also - an amazing amount of carrots in the other bucket as well! Just goes to show what you can do with a bucket and a bit of care!

What kind of seed potato did you use, and did you all in the Carrot competition use the same carrot seeds?

Really interesting to see all the progress! :)

I think there can be even more.

Participants were given a choice between two seed potatoes: Desiree (red skinned) or Osprey (white skinned).

They came out of two ordinary bags of Morrisons ugly potatoes as I could not find good quality proper seed tubers in the nearby B&Q, Wilko's or Homebase at the time of the competition.

The carrot seeds were indeed all the same: Autumn King.

          Flattery will get you everywhere.

Unfortunately, this time, it is undeserving as I did not medal in the Tri-Carrot Challenge. Although I did grow big carrots, they were not consistent in either length, thickness or shape.

But, thanks anyway - I appreciate the sentiment.

If you have a tub going spare then why not join us in next year's competition.

The cowculator stamps that out as 1.503kg.

This is remarkable for a PPE result. I think you've elevated furtling to a new art form.
