Good morning @wiseowl . I thought it was me for a minute who had missed it. Sneaking it in later is cheating :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Free beer again today! Lots of booze reduced to half price simply because of torn cardboard packing or the plastic rings holding packs of cans together had broken.

Silly Tesco scanned the full price barcode so my 20 pack of Budweiser which went through at the full price £10 instead of £5. Off to Customer Services and got a £10 refund under their 'double the difference' policy so got them for nothing. Happens all the time.

Could have been even better as they also scanned my half price pack of Hobgoblin ale using the full price barcode but noticed their error and rescanned , otherwise they also would have been free.

But they made yet another mistake and put my half price pack of Old Speckled Hen through as a 2nd pack of much cheaper reduced lager, so still did very well I suppose, getting the OSH for 44p/can (although I got it for 1p/can last time).

          beer free.jpg

Went on to the local tip and some other places (including one accidentally? selling boxes of 2 items for the same price as singly, and as one was for somebody else it covered the cost of all our other shopping) before calling in again on the way home and more reductions out so got loads of 90% off end of line expensive crisps reduced from £1.50 to 15p/packet to go with my beers. Another typical shopping trip.

P.S. @Zigs See what I mean about reduced Quorn prices? (burgers and steak strips today) 4 more packs was all we could either eat today, cook to use tomorrow, and cram the remainder into our bulging freezers.

EDIT: Tesco appear to have removed their overcharge policy from public display in their stores, but it's still in operation and hidden amongst FAQs on their website, if you don't get it instore contact their head office CS

          In-store FAQ | Tesco.com

          Under 'Payment'

What shall I do if I’ve been overcharged?

We do everything we can to make sure that you should never be overcharged. So in the unlikely event that we charge you more than the price advertised on the shelf edge or on the product, please visit any store’s Customer Service Desk (excluding Express stores) with your receipt. A member of our team will be more than happy to offer for a “double the difference” refund.

They look like they'd be handy for forcing Chicory.

Those must be stacks of them in the box, I thought it was 7 tall, cylindrical, dome topped ones.

Look like they'd be handy for filling with a packet of bulbs when Wilkos reduce them to 30p.

Clear your freezers ready for the forthcoming reduced short UBD/BBD bonanza!

CO2 crisis will force shops to cut food sell-by dates amid panic-buying fears

A CO2 shortage combined with the World Cup (lots of CO2 required for all that additional fizzy Lager) and Wimbledon, plus empty shops during important games, combined with shorter dates on foodstuffs (see link) will mean loads of reduced food at the end of day or afternoons at weekends :dbgrtmb:

Tesco have been rationalising the products they stock and re-branding others such phasing out 'Value' and re-branding as 'Stockwell, Growers Harvest, etc.

A couple of months ago Tesco sold off lots of frozen stuff between 5p and 10p and our freezers are still full of mainly meat free products, but there was also frozen fruit, veg, fish, ice creams, cakes, etc.

For a couple of weeks now they have been getting rid of some lines of stuff in packets, jars and tins at knock down prices. For example, last week was tins of sardines at 19p, this week jars of Tesco curry sauce for only 8p, 1L jars of pickling vinegar 25p, all with very long best before dates.

And different stores can have different products reduced, a couple of weeks ago another store had loads of tinned Red Salmon reduced to 30p.
