    I was thinking the opposite to be honest, but then I use a fair amount of wood chippings which toadstools always seem to grow in.

      Thanks - must admit I've been putting off chipping the wood this year so that could well explain it.

        No, not a shortage this year, probably due to constant use of compost and , especially woodchip derived mulches. In fact several new species beyond the usual range.
