I'm trying Honeycomb for the first time hoping it will be as early as Sungold but without the splitting problem.

My sister adores Honeycombe. I can't recall her mentioning whether it splits, though.

I'm awash with new (to me) cherries this year, so I shall have to take careful notes. By description/reviews, I'm most looking forward to Grandpa's Minnesota, Amy's Apricot, Der Kleine Doctor and of course, Pigletwillie's French Black.

        NigelJ,
Thanks, they sound very interesting. The seeds were given to us as a Christmas present in the form of "Wacky Tomatoes" (see below).

I didn't plant all the seed types but only Black Russian and Radana. Let's see how they turn out. We are growing them hydroponically alongside the Maskotkas.

Thanks very much for your help.

          Eatenbyweasels,

Thanks for your comments. I'll keep you informed on how they turn out. They are still small at the moment.

          Best regards

            JWK,
Just been reading your reviews and it's very good, interesting information for future planting. I'm not too bothered about "time to fruit" as we always get a glut with the Maskotkas and it will be nice to get some a bit later in the season.
            Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for advice Hailbopp! Your mycorhiza obviously supplied differently. Mine is a white powder which I've only used when planting Roses! Was going to use similarly on Tom's when potting up into final container. However I couldn't find the stuff, the 'gardener' has 'tidyed' it away somewhere!' Thanks for your advice anyway. The gardener's not here as went to Twickenham to grandchild's graduation! Imagine getting your degree next to the pitch!!! Can't travel these days! Been there lots to see Wales defeat England, usually in a fast and flowing game!!

                Hello all,

I've just potted up my spare plants into tall pots as they are trailing types of tomato (Garden Pearl's and Cherry Falls). Also a couple of shorter pots for the Black Russians (not a trailing type). The intention is to put these outside on the patio when the weather warms up a bit. Not sure how they will perform outside but nothing lost as they are spare plants anyway. I'll give them a few days in the greenhouse first for them to establish a good root system.

                2. Black Russians in black smaller pots.

                3. Mainly 2 plants per pot as I'm running out of compost.

Behind the tomatoes are my chilis and sweet peppers (Oops, wrong forum!).

                That's all for now.

I'm tempted to start a poll - Is this the cleanest greenhouse you have ever seen?

I've just spoken to my sister and she reckons Honeycombe has a slight tenancy to split, but not as much as Sungold. :blue thumb:

I'm growing both of those right next to each other in the ground in one greenhouse and in 30l pots in the converted shed, will be interesting to see how they do

Leaf miners? Only one plant affected. I've kicked it out of the greenhouse. Nothing to see on the underside of the leaves, save one small white patch. Almost looks like variegation but as far as I know, Pink Vernissage isnt variegated.

If it's leaf miner you will be able to see the insect at the end of one of the tunnels.

It does look like leaf miners, I've never had them on tomatoes. That's an advantage of growing in pots @eatenbyweasels you can shift them around.

Thanks for the pest identification help, folks. A quick read-up tells me that outdoor plants aren't affected. So the plan is to remove all the mined leaves, leave the pot outdoors for a week to check there is no further mining then put it back in the greenhouse. Pink Vernissage shares a pot with Christmas Purple Grapes, which I'd rather have indoors.
