Many thanks woo for new very clear pics.

The tree in your first pic showing whole tree does look like a Beech...Fagus.
But Beech leaves are smooth. No teeth.
So that can be rules out.

    Lime...Tilia....Shape of leaf not right.
The leaves of which are rather round and fat.

Elm...Ulmus ...not many alive still. Dutch elm disease put pay no most.
    Leaf very distinctive.
The leaf at the stalk end is not even.
On one side of the stalk it is shorter than the other side of the stalk.

Not seen anything yet to eliminate Hornbeam...Carpinus.
    Leaf and buds fit.
Wonder if it is Carpinus betula fastigiata? It has a kind of tear-drop shape.

Please can you look next spring to see if it has catkins.

Right..I thought it was planted in your garden.
        OK.....It is in the street!

Then I am far happier with my answer of Carpinus betula fastigiata.
For some reason it is much loved by planners.

        Fastigiata normally means tall /thin/slender.
        Ideal for buses and lorries?
        Err NO!
I fear they haven't got a clue and do not realise that as this slim tree grows ......it just gets fatter!

In summer they are very dense dark green trees that block light from houses.

You could never describe this one as upright/slim/slender!
