    Hi

The photos were taken a month or so ago. I'm happy to take some more now and / or to take any further photos that may help ID it.

    Many thanks

At the moment I would say it's a Malus. Could we have a close up picture of the bark on the trunk please?

I was thinking apple perhaps some kind of crab apple.
      Has it set any fruit?
If so a pic would help along with what Sheal asks, the bark is a good give away some times.

      Hi

Thanks for the replies. No it hasn't set any fruit.

I've taking a photo of the trunk reasonably low down, and another a bit higher in the tree. Also, seeing as it has been over a month since the photos above were taken, I've done a couple more of the whole tree.

      Cheers

From pics it is hard to see difference between Cherry plum and red leaved Apple...Malus.
I would suggest that cherry usually flowers early in the spring before Malus.
So my vote goes to Apple.

      Fruits...
Cherry plum..small with a single stone in the centre .
Apple... very different..Cut in half to see the pips.

To me the bark looks more malus than prunus.

Thanks for the bark pictures. Yes, I'd say it was Malus.
