Tree identification

    It would appear that a squirrel or bird has been busy in my garden - I have two of these:

    Can anyone identify what it is please?

    I also have another one (no photo just yet) which I think is a hazel - has very similar leaves to the blackcurrant that it hid behind until it overtook it. Blighter has already reached a good 5ft! I will try and get a photo of the other one at some point.

    Sorry FC, I don't know the first one but the second sounds like a Sycamore to me. They grow very quickly and sprout very easily from seed, I know them well unfortunately. :doh::)

      I will check the other one @Sheal and get a photo - the leaves didn't look like a sycamore to me (we've got tons of them just up the road admittedly)

          Sycamore is easy to spot. The leaves are Maple like due to it being of the Acer family.

            Definitely not sycamore - it has smaller, ribbed like leaves.

              I agree with @pete that it looks like Walnut. The squirrels are always planting them in our garden. I pot them up and sell them. :) I think I've run out of customers for them, though :heehee:.

                Sorry, I didn't get outside today to take a photo of the other one - will try tomorrow. It is definitely not sycamore though. I just need to know what to do with two walnut saplings now.... :biggrin:
