          Why the parachutes? I thought the boosters were simply discarded and allowed to burn up/smash up on re-entry?

                So did I, but apparently they recover them. Quite something hearing the metal groaning and clanking as its falling back to earth. I wonder how they know where they are going to come back down too as well? They must have some sort of fairly foolproof plan to ensure that they drop into the sea?
