    I bought this long handled foot dibber, made at Mary Arden's Farm by their tool maker,'Master Percy' and it certainly saves the bending.

    I've got one like that (but slightly shorter) which was made by the previous tenant of a plot I now cultivate and it's brilliant for dibbing spud holes.

    Yours is only the second one I've seen.

    You soil is more workable than my clay! I use a bulb planter (the sort you jump on with both feet, not a hand one) :(

    I also use one of those as a dibber, but adapted by having a length of round fence post cut to fit through the 'ring' and fixed in place with a few nails.

    Oh dear, it seems to have detiorated:

    It's been left standing upright in a shed with an earth floor.

    But I've seen an ideal branch on a sycamore tree i'm going to fell this Autumn.....
