They've finished flowering now, been dead headed and are looking unsightly - plus they're taking up valuable planting room. How soon can I lift them, or do I need to wait until the foliage has gone yellow and wilting?

Next year they can go in a pot and that'll get tucked out of sight afterwards!

Hi Aaron, it should have started to yellow slightly-in my garden they have about a month before they need lifting ( although I won't be lifting mine, I will just cut off at the base).

The longer you can leave them (well, until they have pretty much died down), the better the flowers will be next year.

Don't forget to feed them-I went with Marley suggestions of rehydrated chicken poo.

PS, it stinks lol ( the longer you leave it the less inclined you are to use it but apparently its stronger).

I've plenty of fresh chicken droppings here! Free for the taking as well:hehe: Could be interesting poking it round the tulips in the border though....

Aaron, when you are ready to replant lift the bulbs. Don`t worry about what they want, they can always be replaced quite cheaply.:gnthb:
