There is currently a gap in my planting roughly where I've placed the blue pot. I think this is an ideal spot for a climber to grow against the shed. It would need to tolerate full sun and pretty strong winds. All the plants in that area are either blue, orange or white. I am looking into growing a white climber along the back fence (not visible in this photo) so I would prefer blue climbers here.

I have had a quick look and Clematis Rhapsody jumps out at me. It is a strong shade of blue, pretty hardy, long flowering and not too big.

I am also putting in an obelisk (in lieu of an arch) where the pole is sticking up behind the water feature. The obelisk will stand approx 6ft high. I have no idea what to grow here. Again I would prefer something bright.

Ideally I would like to buy them at my local Morrison's or bargain shop but I'm sure the varieties they stock would not suit my needs. Anything I can source locally would be appreciated.

Hi @Jack Sparrow , how about a Solanum ( Potato Vine ) for the shed and a mix of white and pale blue Sweet Peas for the obelisk.

Hi @KFF. Yes that is the right colour and available locally. As is passiflower. These have come up in conversation before and the inference is that they are both too aggressive for my needs. I might be wrong. Hopefully somebody will be able to put me straight.

        Are they still alive?

H F Young....pale blue, large flowers. Flowering twice, spring and summer.
For the obelisk, clematis viticella Etoile Violette is a delight. Long flowering...yes, bright :)

Hi @Verdun. Both those choices look promising. I'll have a look around. Thanks for the info. :dbgrtmb:

Not a regular plant customer of Morrison’s but I noticed last week they had some very good plants.
Etoile Violette is a very nice climber ....flowers for a long time and never seems to suffer from wilt or similar clematis problems. Go for it Gary:)

I've not seen HF Young anywhere yet. I've looked in 3 different places. I've seen The President which looks very similar.

The President is a well know old favourite. It’s darker than HF Young; the latter seems to flower earlier, twice in fact :)
