Unknown?

Oh, never heard of a purple one before, Palustris. Could you put a picture up for us please?

 

Ok.. So now thats a red and a purple one I need to look for on my walkabouts:thumb:

 

The flowers on cultivated witch hazel vary from yellow right the way through to a very dark purple almost black I'm particularly fond of the peach coloured varieties:wink:

We get a gold start for trying.

 

No sooner said than done. It has gone a lot lighter in colour since it first opened though.

 

I wonder what part of evolution that flower bypassed to produce those most odd shapped petels? Sure is different
