Unusual Bulbs

    Got a polyphylla , but still too small to plant outdoor .....have a look at Mark and Gaz garden , they have a really nice one outdoor , really wonder how will do this winter.
    One of my frost hardy opuntia went through last year winter with no damage this year dasn`t look good , too wet .

    Seen few nice SA bulbs on line will threat myself this year :dbgrtmb:.....but would really love

    Sal,

    I have grown Boophane from seed in the past, but no longer have them.

    They germinate very easily. As with most Amaryllids, the fleshy berry often starts to produce the root before they are even sowed.

    But the seedlings are very slow. It takes many years before they start to form the characteristic fan.

    I usually work out the price of the bulb by the time it take to grow ......to more expencive they are the more slow to grow they are ....and sometime they don`t even produce offset like many other bulbs will ......

    this is one of my favourite , but too expencive for my pocket (from Brazil )

    Hippeastrum procera Worsleya (at £270 ) per bulbs
