    This is my verbena bonariensis last weekend before I cut it back. (It doesn't seem to zoom in as well as it does on my phone).

    I think you’ve helped me finally solve this one.

    It’s definitely Lychnis Flos. I live near Edinburgh but it’s been so mild that those are simply flowers from last year that were bent down and evaded my chop. So they are still attached and haven’t withered.

    I think the photo of the Verbena Bonariensis has just been me taking a pic in the garden centre for research purposes!!!

    Well guys dare I say it I’ve pieced together all the loose ends and I’m confident I now know what’s what! I need a labelling system!

      Yep! Keep tabs in a notebook ...maybe with a sketch of the planting in the garden. Labels fade quite quickly :)

      Plants with just leaves are hard to id accurately.
