I keep losing the link with GC for some reason and this is my fourth attempted posting.

John, The Blues Brothers is one of our all-times favourites and have watched it dozens of times ... I remember that phrase well ...

I actually prefer country folk to country western. I love Dolly and Eva Cassidy. One of my favourites when I was young was Mary Hopkins, from my homeland and I have her Postcard album. My Welsh relatives actually thought it was me on the TV as there are likenesses even I cannot deny.

I was also a fan of Merliee Rush and Kenny G.

But then went into alternative rock folk ... my favourites being Keith Urban and Jack Savoretti. Groupwise, it's Three Doors Down and Matchbox Twenty who has the bonus of the fabulous Rob Thomas ...

I like to keep an open mind with music and I change with the times but always keep my favourites.

Agree with all three Pete and the Patsy Cline Story was another classic.

I love the film Walk the Line, as it does seem to tell the truth about his life, showing his issues with drugs/womanising etc, but at the same time, showing what a nice bloke he was and could be.

His music style isn't 'just' Country and Western, I have read (and agree) that his music cannot just be placed into one genre, as he has also played Rock 'n Roll, Folk as well as some gospel type songs.

I have such a varied taste in music, it is unreal, as my father listened to 50's, 60's Country ....etc etc I myself got into listening to anything from 50's through to current and quite a few different specific artists, I have been to see in the last few years, Ray Davies, Steven Seagal (yes, the actor), Glen Campbell and Don Williams. I really, really regret not seeing Gene Pitney, he died on the gig he done the day after he appeared at the Cliffs Pavillion near me, I couldn't get tickets as they had sold out!!

I saw him live in Huntsville, Alabama at the old Colosseum in the 60s ... brilliant. I still have one or two of his albums tucked away, including 'the best of' ... :yahoo:

I think Alison Krauss is fab. I know someone up in Tadcaster who is or was in a tribute band to Alison Krauss, must catch that some day.
