Yes - I think I'm growing fonder of 70s cinema as time passes - a gritty respite from the CGI slickness of today.

I could have sworn Dog Day was one of his earliest but looking it up just now - was made after Godfather 1 and Serpico.

An interesting combination of Al Pacino and Robin Williams (in a dark role) is Insomnia.

There were some truly great films made in the '70s - French Connection, Deer Hunter, The Long Good Friday, Mean Streets, The Wicker Man and (of course) Star Wars.

Robin Williams in One Hour Photo....................

I have this film, he was a genius, still feel sad!

The Deer Hunter is just brilliant, The Wicker Man is still one of the scariest films I have ever watched, Mean Streets though I think is very overrated.

70s film I liked .... One flew over the cuckoos nest.

Monty Pythons Holy Grail and Life of Brian have stood the test of time, my kids enjoyed them a generation on.

Horribly dated are the big budget disaster movies ......Towering Inferno etc.
I love watching them for a laugh as the clothes of the time are often the biggest disaster!

Just watched Angels share - ok not great!

Another really good film from the 70's is Deliverance with Jon Voight & Burt Reynolds.

A little like my current "addiction" to The Professionals!

Although not strictly from the 70's (it was released in 1980), Babylon is very much a film of late 70's Britain.

This is a good 70's sci-fi movie, one of the best:

I watched "Gravity " with Sandra Bullock , disappointing as just so far fetched with swapping from one space station to another I wont spoil the film but a big named star and that's what carried it ..... anyone else and the film wouldn't of got good press

Isn't all sci-fi a bit silly? It just seems to me that modern sci-fi relies too much on special effects and forgets about story, character or style.

I've seen 2 films both within the past week, due to advanced screening tickets that we got, the first was Pride, brilliant film about the miners strikes and the gay and lesbian community, based on a true story. And also The million dollar arm, a new Disney film also based on a true story, seeking 2 Indian crickets to become American baseball players.
