It's interesting- I entered the booking.com using laptop and phone both on home WiFi so the location should be about the same. I checked today out of curiosity using my work laptop via VPN, and the price was £260. :th scifD36:

Anyways, it's the same thing as with any purchase- you buy it if it's worth the money but if the thing turns out to be even a penny cheaper around the corner you feel utterly cheated

It's hard to get on with the times.
When I was young, SM only meant one thing and it involved black leather, studs (metal, not animal variety), and perhaps whips. Oh those days of innocense!

The SM of the other SM is forcing people to use self-checkout. Sadistic on the part of the company and masochistic if people actually want to use them.

OK you win @shiney :roflol: The item I referred to was on Social Media and altho I hadn't even thought of the 3rd SM - sado masochism as @Selleri mentions - I suppose that content would have fitted . I guess I should have said a SM thread posted by SM's ( Some Morons ) on SM but not in the 2nd SM. We are now up to 4 SM's ...........any advances ??
Actually if I think about it, a lot of Social Media could also be Amti Social Media. On the other hand, I think I'll just give up

My Whaaat! of the day. We hired a young man to stump grind two old tree stumps at the end of our garden. He said his tool wasn’t big enough and he’d have to borrow a friend’s. He turned up this morning, followed by his friend with his big tool. Friend left. Young man was left to grind away. All went quiet after a couple of hours. OH went out to see why. Young man has got his friend’s tool jammed in our gateway. Won’t go back, won’t go forward. Weighs a ton. OH and he are trying to use my OH’s ideas and electric drill to free it. No good. Young man says that our gate and posts are going to have to be removed to get it out of its trap. You are kidding? Nope. Any discount in the price I wonder. Who am I to ask, I’m just a daft old woman. What a tool.

Very few men and even fewer young men are ever going to admit that.

Seriously though you'd have thought his friend would know how big his grinder was and if it would go through your gate.
OH should get the angle grinder out and offer to trim the grinder a little, I'm sure the chap will find a sudden spurt of energy to get it out.

The friend got it through the gate. The pillock couldn’t get it out. It’s now buried up to its neck.

Young man has been off for an hour to borrow a tow rope from another friend so that his lorry can try and pull the thing out. In the meantime, it’s rained heavily. Young man has returned and is now saying he can’t get his lorry in near enough without some Harris fencing belonging to an unknown farmer, who is renting the field for some sheep, to be moved out of the way. OH has now had to go and find his set of 1970s box spanners to undo the Harris fencing. Probably Imperial and the fence will be metric. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. In the meantime meantime, I am waiting for Evri to not deliver some frozen food which I was promised two days ago. Gawd. The state of modern Britain….

Ahh! As I don't do Social Media of any sort (the nearest I get to it is Gardeners Corner) it didn't mean anything to me. From what I have heard friends say about it they would heartily agree with you calling it Anti Social Media. :heehee:

In the past, here on the forum, I have stated my dislike of the TLA (Three Letter Acronym) but it can equally be used for Two Letter Acronyms. :roflol:

When I was in the Merchant Navy I met quite a few Sub Mariners. A friend of mine is a SM (Stage Manager) in the theatre. That's five and six. Any advance?

Torrential rain. OH out there, bareheaded, making sure that the young man with a talent for destroying things doesn’t just pull the gate posts and gate off their moorings. Did I mention that he had managed to flatten both my red currant and one of my black currant bushes while he was grinding his stump?

A blight upon the page, a three-letter curse,
                            These TLAs, a verbal traverse.
From simple words, they twist and they fray,
Obscuring meaning in a needless way.

I abhor the trend, the quick and the terse,
Where clarity is lost, a linguistic verse.
They clutter up the thought, the flow, the phrase,
In this digital age, in these confusing days.

So let us speak plain, let words find their grace,
And banish these TLAs from this hallowed space.
Let language be free, from their constricting hold,
And stories be told, as they were of old.

Young man with a grinder has now driven off home, after what he probably thinks of as a good day’s work, leaving OH to reattach our gate (it was removed for safety), reattach and return to its original position the farmer’s Harris fencing, and tidy up all the mess of the stump grinding (extra cost if Young Lochinvar had done it).

                              And the heavens have opened.

@shiney same here with Social Media - 2 Gardening Forums is my lot. I've never even attempted the likes of Twatter or Facebook. I did try our local Next Door Neighbour site a couple of years ago but very little of interest or use for me.
Well, we're now up to 7 SM's with yours and @Tidemark 's additions - maybe we should just have a 4 letter one and CIAD ( Call It A Day ) before we go Super Mad ? :please:

@Tidemark I hope you are sending Stumpy an invoice rather than paying his ?
