Yes, it is always good to praise good service. Many years ago I used to also do consumer advice, free of charge, for the local council advice centre and specialised in problems between consumers and local businesses and one of the things I always tried to impress upon people is to give praise where it is due. Paypal are usually good but it can be a problem when using ebay because that puts another layer between you - as you now have the seller, ebay and then Paypal. Particularly if the seller is not on ebay's 'approved' list but is just a seller. The problems tend to occur mainly with the Chinese sellers and unfortunately it doesn't always show as being Chinese as they use an address registered in England. Having said that, some Chinese sellers are brilliant.
Yes - a lot of the stuff originates in China anyway @shiney, and then the seller is UK . It just comes down to what you're looking for and whether you can get it locally or not. I hate it when people just have that 'it's your job, so why should you get extra praise?' attitude. People get taken for granted so much nowadays. I bought some small items [ironmongery I think] a couple of years ago, and I decided to email the company because everything had been so good. I got a reply from the people in the office - it was a Friday, thanking me for that email, and they said it had really cheered them all up at the end of their working week and for their weekend. I replied to their message, because I appreciated how much it had meant to them. I know how it feels to have been taken for granted at work, and I see the crap my daughters have to put up with on a daily basis too, so a little message can just make all the difference.
I agree. If I receive poor service I'm not afraid to let people know I'm not happy. On that basis alone, I think praise should also be given where due. On one occasion I left a review of a restaurant where the food was good, staff were good etc but the lighting was so low it was almost impossible to read the menu. I mentioned all elements and received a response thanking me for my balanced comments and they would look to improving lighting.
Liz Truss (remember her? ) says she will be available to give advice to Nigel Farage when he becomes PM.
And ... Mandelson has gone. For the third time in his career, he has been downed by his infatuation with other's wealth. Slow learner! Why Starmer thought be should have been brought back into a very visible political role is an absolute mystery to me. Just as I was utterly bemused when Rishi resurrected Cameron. There we are. Political minds move in strange ways.
The more I hear the more I think Starmer thought he would have the way smoothed for him by Mandelson with Trump. Being that they were both members of the Jeffrey Epstein club.
Possibly. Epstein would be chuckling in his grave if he knew of all those caught in his wake. Maybe he is enacting revenge for being silenced in his prison cell. (Conspiracy theory (or rather, theory) alert! Other explanations re his cause of death exist ... but bear in mind narcissists are generally not prone to committing suicide.)
Something I hadn't been aware of until the other day.......... all ex PM's receive £115 k pa expenses allowance ( as well as their pensions ? ) to help them to remain in the public eye - giving talks ( for which they are paid ) and.....err.......attending meetings and err..........???? As for Mandelson, he was never diplomat material - yet another example of wrong person in wrong place which this govt in particular seems to excel at. Epstein is "living" long after his death - no doubt plenty more to come if Trump's Top Secret cache ever comes to light.
An interesting, but rather worrying story about how difficult it is to dispose of problematic waste. Scientists finally solve the mystery of ghostly halos on the ocean floor Although this example is from the US; GB and Europe are no better. Just look at the mass of explosives, poisonous gases dumped after both World Wars. I dread to think what has been dumped in places like China and India.
An iphone air has just been release. £999.00 for the cheapest model! Luckily, however, John Lewis has a special offer. They will give you ... ... free delivery! Saving - £7.95! Well, who could pass up such a bargain!
I'm thinking of getting one in each colour, so I can change them to match whichever t-shirt I happen to have on!
