I was reading an article this morning about the wars he claims to have ended. One of them was never a war in the first place.
I liked the way his 'facts' were challenged and corrected by the NATO Secretary General too.
I wonder if Trump and Starmer are related? The number of U turns Trump has done in the past few weeks makes me think it a possibility.

 

I'm not sure Trump is doing U-turns. I think he is working on the psychology principle that if you make huge threats and then soften your demands, this enhances persuadability in your target group. Their horror is ratcheted up and then drops down to mere alarm.

This Board of Peace is going to prove a world-changer, I think. It is filled with undesirables happy to pay megabucks for their spot. It may become the ultimate vehicle for money to triumph over morality.

Say what you like about the man, he does get stuff done! Unravelling any adverse effects after his "reign" may not be possible though.

He's ended another war yesterday, the NATO civil war.

I really think he has his crazy ideas and the real people keep him on a leash from the background, eventually they rein him in to a half sensible position.

It certainly made him the main man at Davos and he would have enjoyed that.

He looks absolutely beyond exhaustion though. Unfortunately, Vance as a replacement is, if such is possible, an even less desirable leader.

I do think this Board of Peace may turn out to be the most significant development since ... well, in our lifetimes. It could completely overturn the norms we have lived with.

That said, if it gets too large, internal differences may render it ineffective. Looking at the list of those who have signed up, it is hard to see their priorities aligning.

Yes Trump gets things done, by ignoring the rule of law for the most part. Hitler got things done. Stalin got things done. Do you want them as role models?

 

It's not by ignoring the rule of law. It's by changing the law to fit your rules ... and being able to do so because the electorate has been groomed into peak confusion so no one knows what to believe and a politician can stand up and say with a straight face that "black is white" or "4 + 4 = 57" without being laughed out of the room by the media because they live by perpetuating bias and misinformation.

 

And presumably you are willing to pay that because you expect to get even more back in deals, backhanders, etc. Now where does that come from?

 

I dont know much about the Board of Peace, only just heard of it, but look who is in the United Nations, most of that lot are criminals.

I dont understand why people would think it shouldn't contain the likes of Putin, if you dont include all kinds then its just a group of friends.
Similarly I've seen criticism of the US having talks with Russia in the so called peace attempt for Ukraine.
Surely you have to talk to both sides otherwise its pointless even bothering.

At times of been fed up with Starmer and his Coalition of the willing, what is the point, they are not even involved in any talks with Russia, just a talking shop amongst themselves to appear important.
I thought it was one of Putin's red lines not to have NATO troops in Ukraine, so they can be as willing as they like and talk amongst themselves as much as they like.

 

@pete how can you include Putin, and many others, in any organisation with 'Peace' in its title? I would exclude Trump, Blair as well.
