I listened to Starmer having a go at Trump. Someone must have stuck something up him to give him more backbone! I know a couple of families that had relatives die in battle in Afghanistan.
The thing is we all know Trump is talking rubbish and we will see reports of various leaders refuting his latest, outrageous claims. But many Americans will not get that balance ... and so the idea takes hold.
Apparently he spoke of his own military as suckers and losers some years ago. I think he could be verging on dangerous ground even for him, lots of American families have military connections and I dont believe they all fit the gung ho hollywood types that some may be. Lets hope not anyway. Noticing stuff on facebook.
We had a close family member do 3 stince out in afghanistan on the front line, she even seen she best friend blown up in one atack, she was never the same after that!! Stamer needs to stand up more
I sometimes think he does it on purpose, he likes to cause waves, nothing is off the cards. I was quite surprised about what Zelenski said yesterday after he had been speaking with Trump, I wonder if he was told to say that, up to a point though I do have to agree but it looks like he no longer wants backing from Europe.
He's right that the EU does a lot of talking (20+ yrs to make a trade deal, for example), but in this instance, acting is tricky as it would drag NATO into a war, so talking, taking in refugees and supporting with money have been the only options.
But there was never any attempt to talk to Putin, this was my argument about The Willing, willing to do what, you cant stop a war by just supplying arms, support maybe, but for how many more years, and at the same time as holding back on what armaments to supply and tying Ukraines hands about how they can use them. It took months and months to even get round to supplying tanks at one point.
