He's only following the usual dictatorial route - little difference between him and Putin - megalamaniacs ruling the roost. The rest of the world will twig at some point but perhaps too late to do much about it.

And what can they do anyway? Democracy just means you get to vote every so often. Once someone is "in", that's it till the next scheduled vote, pretty much.

Unless someone in charge decides to cancel voting, not that they will always get away with it.;)

Up to each country I guess but Russia can not be described as Democratic and the USA seems to be heading the same way along with a few others. Where free voting is allowed, much depends on the %age of the population who make use of their right to do so. Elsewhere it depends on whether the voting system is correctly governed or whether it is simply a ruse designed to return the same lot time after time.
Not sure how we deal with it tho when we are still unwilling to accept that everyone is equal.

Seems the UK isn't far behind, with family members press-ganging other family members into voting a certain way...

There is plenty of justification for impeaching Trump already but the democrats seem incapable of collective, concerted action. Unfathomable.

Trump's wholesale assault on electoral freedoms in the US are rather more worrying to me than a few families coercing others to vote a certain way in a single constituency. There are some Pakistani communities in the UK who still don't like their women to be educated or learn English so they can find it their social, employment and democratic rights by themselves. However, I can't see how they can "fix" votes when only one person at a time is allowed in a polling booth. Needs verifying but I suspect Reform are being bad losers and stirring trouble.

True; but the Republican party have majorities in both houses; impeachment requires a simple majority in the House and a two thirds majority in the senate.

To me the interesting thing is that members of Reform and an independent democracy group observed this, but neither group bothered to report this illegal act to either the officials at the polling stations where they observed it, to the Returning Officer or to the police. Then today both groups are busy complaining that it was allowed to go on.

I assume no one can interfere while the election is in progress.

I'm sure there was an inquiry some years ago about this kind of thing in general elections, I think it was going on via postal votes.

In this case they observed more than one person in the booth, probably due to someone not speaking English, I'm sure if they were challenged there would have been ructions.

If they see someting wrong it should be reported immediately before polling closes. There are observers there to check thinks are done right. Reporting it after losing seems very dodgy to me.

Yeah maybe so but as we all know certain rules get a blind eye for certain people.

Will she be able to take her four rescue greyhounds into the House of Commons with her? She could easily argue that she’s going to need them as support animals. :)

Indeed, especially the independent observers. Police should have been called there and then. Regardless of when reported though, it is pretty disgusting.

There was an inquiry and they tightened things up, the Greens did have documents in Urdu for those not fluent in English.
