I wonder if the "master plan" is to allow lawlessness to grow until it becomes an issue for ordinary folk trying to go about their daily business. Then politicians can say "Well, the answer is digital id cards" and people will be so fed up the chaos on the streets, they will embrace these.

There's only so many times a supermarket (in Clapham or elsewhere) can lock shoppers in for their own protection, releasing them one at a time to be safely escorted past masses of unruly youths, before people say "enough is enough".

Trump claiming the rescue of the 2 airmen as the greatest and most successful rescue mission in the history of the United States. For some reason, he didn't mention that Iran managed to shoot down two aircraft despite his claim that Iran had no defences left.

I never forgave Dunelm's coffee shops for stopping the supply of a free biscoff biscuit with their hot drinks.
It's the little things (literally in this case ).

Seriously though, we're going to hell in a handcart.

Got to have a wee biscuit or chocolate with a coffee!

Waitrose does seem to have gone downhill. There's one I always used to visit near friends in West Ealing so I could stock up on mint jelly for Possum but the choice, quality and price of everything else is just dismal. There used to be a really good Safeway in Ealing centre but that closed years ago and, in any case, I can no longer park the car there without paying to go in the emissions zone.

I think he believes it's an ICE mission and they are deporting the Canadian.

Someone said on the news this morning that its easier to get to the far side of the moon today than getting from London to Milton Keynes by rail.
I thought it summed up our railways pretty well, although I haven't used them for years, I do hear from people who do.

A combo that I had once at a tea at a "heritage" place was a very nice cuppa and an espresso shortbread cookie. It sounds weird but the light touch of espresso added to the shortbread really paired well with my tea. :)

Have just been having an argument with AI, so I have come to see if real people agree with me or it. :)

Which of these would you use - infeasible or unfeasible? AI insists the first has become much more popular since the 1970s and is now the preferred option. I have never used it or heard it used or seen it typed till today ... and I spend a LOT of time reading. If it is so popular, how can this be? And, given I was around in the 70s and AI was not, I feel my "lived experience" should count as superior.

(P.S. I am in a somewhat combative mood, having just spent two hrs wrestling to set up some very simple technology, so AI has chosen the wrong moment to be anything other than soothingly agreeable. :nonofinger:)

                    Unf for me.

My Collins Cobuild English dictionary, which saw me through several years of teaching my mother tongue to foreigners, only has unf.

Now I'm sure there was a word around in the 60s, Uninflammable, it wont even let me type it these days, Inflammable, meant something that burnt, now days that has been replaced with Flammable.
                      Or so it seems.

The news readers are increasingly calling projectiles missles, instead of missiles.

Rooves and roofs is another one.

In situations like this, @ViewAhead, I would always go with not feasible! If in doubt, and if I have time, I’ll check with my daughter, who is an expert in these things. Otherwise, I’ve been known to rewrite whole sentences and even paragraphs, to avoid using a word I’m not entirely sure about.

Unfeasible is more natural to me, however the AI probably used data in the Corpus of Modern American English which has infeasible as more popular than unfeasible in the 2000s. Sadly this is supported by the Corpus of British English which shows infeasible becoming more popular in the 2000s.
