And without proportional representation we get a completely skewed reflection of the “will of the people”.
I noticed this morning on the BBC news watch programme people were complaining about all news revolving around Trump, they cant seem to stop reporting his every move. They even break into ordinary programmes to announce he was at some sports event or other. The Trump thing is being overdone here, he's just another American president but controversial, I just wish they would stop reporting on his every move, they ignored Biden most of the time. They did the same last time he was in office. Lets ignore Trump. Eh?
Wish we could, @pete, but it’s not just the USA he is destroying. It’s certainly interesting hearing the point of view of an ‘insider’, @ViewAhead, and quite an eye opener. I suppose here in the UK, we are more used to acknowledging both the strengths and mistakes of our politicians. All the Americans I know ( not that many) have been in the depths of despair though, either shocked or embarrassed, or both. I’ve read of quite a few republicans stating that they ‘had to hold their nose and vote for Trump’ as that was the party they supported. Quite horrifying though to hear of those who actively support and admire his behaviour.
Nice old adage, 'When you're in a hole, stop digging....'. Might apply here. Is there any chance we could move on from bloody Trumpton? Love him or detest him, he's effing BORING.
Trump likes to be in the limelight. You only feed his ego by talking about him all the time that is what he likes.
So let's stop encouraging the sycophant, shall we? I dug over a load of old soil in a pot today, and sat watching the woodlice, millipedes and wiggly worms. It was fascinating, observing these wee souls all busy with their own lives. Made me feel very humble. And small. Three kinds of butterflies flittered by, Peacock, Tortoiseshell and Large Cabbage White. Loads of bumble bees. Rooks in the noble fir , jackdaws in the chimneys, robins nesting in the shed.....who gives a monkeys about some lardy orange-tipped chap when there's a bigger, better life right in our own gardens? Let's face it , our wildlife will - I hope - all be here when the pathetically humancentric race has long gone. And taken it's partisan politics with it.
I think so too @Tinkerton, unless we end up with a major nuclear war or politicians allow industrialists to strip the land of all its assets be they animal, vegetable or especially mineral. I'm particularly concerned about the fate of the national parks now that their staff have been fired. Who's going to protect the wildlife and conserve their topography and natural assets? Reuters report that following the trade wars China has cut off supplies of rare earth minerals to the USA. Trump and co obviously hadn't foreseen this and don't understand how essential they are to smartphones, defense and EVs. This will hit the middle classes whereas the general tariffs on Chinese goods hit the poorer classes who buy the cheaper goods. https://www.reuters.com/markets/com...rind-halt-trade-war-controls-bite-2025-04-11/ US farmers will also lose out as they export significant quantities of soy bean, oil seeds and grains. The new 125% tariif imposed by China on such items willelave the crops rotting in the fields and farlers impoverished. Oops! They've been major Trump supporters...... https://edition.cnn.com/2025/04/13/business/american-farmer-china-trade-trump-intl-hnk-dg/index.html
The problem is, with every new day, Trump unleashes more behaviour that over qualifies him for the ‘Whaaattt? thread! Each one more jaw dropping than the last, I’m developing TMJ problems, plus a sore mouth from being gobsmacked at his ignorance and audacity. The ‘Latest Moan from You and Me’ seems quite uplifting to the spirits in comparison!
@Tidemark your post reminded me of how many children - especially those living in cities - had no idea of how or from what and where their food originated. There was a lot of efforts made to take children on to farms to learn how it happened. @Tinkerton Agree about the "wiggly" creatures. I find the Woodlice quite intriguing the way they can roll themselves into a tight little ball - you could almost play marbles with them
Many Americans that switched from voting Democrat to Republican last year did so because they finally saw how within the White House the politicians were covering up the Demented President for past who knows how long, they also realized that the media was covering up about it also. Thus the credibility of democrat politician and most media reporters are gone. Yes, there is some folks that still are blind. Who really ran America we don't know. The audio pen did a lot of work, those signed items are now in major question and most are erased. They also switched due to the immigrant crisis Biden did, and effects of criminals in our country, deaths by illegal immigrants. And now they are finding so much wasteful spending of our tax money it only digs the hole deeper for NO ONE ever wanting a Democrat in the office again. Also the actions of the democrats shows Americans just what Toddlers they are, again the Democrats just dig themselves deeper and deeper. The Democrats have no leader or any message, just get Trump. Americans want more. So to you all, over the pond folks ect. you can put all the arguments up about Trump. Bottom line it was the Actions of the Democrats that caused Trump to get voted in. And i am glad Trump is there.
Thank you. And I want to point out, you all will NEVER find a statement from ME in this forum putting down, or ridiculing any of your government officials, or the ways your government is ruled.
