Who cares what colour the next Pope is ( or anyone else come to that )? No one is truly "white" when compared to a colour chart and with all the robes and WHY, you don't see much of the Pope's actual skin anyway.
I suppose the people who care what colour the next Pope’s skin colour is are the people who have voted in “white” Popes for generations.
At my catholic Covent school, we had the option of taking a religious studies O level. The nun who taught us refused to waste time on the Old Testament, as she said the basis of Christianity was the reported behaviour and teaching of Jesus Christ, and that was what we should be living by. I didn’t get a very good grade, but all the non catholics, who followed the full curriculum did much better! I think she certainly had the right idea. It does seem that the Old Testament offers so many opposing views that some religions have decided to pick and choose whatever suits them best. As for Vance, his reported beliefs sound like heresy, and his behaviour makes it questionable whether he should be allowed out in public. ( this was supposed to follow the quote above from @Obelix-Vendée, but kept getting tied up in the quote)

The only criteria for filling any post should be "Best person for the job". Colour, creed, gender etc, etc shouldn't come into it. Equally there should be no quotas of any other above simply to ensure boxes are ticked.
I dont think it will matter to me who gets the job of being the pope, likewise who gets the job of the archbishop of canterbury.
It would be nice to hear that historic and on-going scandalous behaviour within the church hierarchy is punished rather than swept under the carpet. Within the Catholic church alone we have this… Catholic Church sexual abuse cases - Wikipedia And within the Anglican church this… Anglican Communion sexual abuse cases - Wikipedia
And no doubt every other institution around the world is the same. The Catholics and Protestants do not have a monopoly on that type of behaviour.
