Well @shiney it seems Putin has reneged on every promise he's made in "private" talks with Trump so is now saying he's the bad guy. Also, this way it'll be easier for the USA to get the rare earth minerals it needs from the Ukraine than from any notional deal with Putin over dividing the country up into Russian and US parcels.
I'm probably wrong, and I've not said it, but all along I have thought Trump wanted Ukraine's minerals. Now trying to cosy up to Putin was about trying to get him on his side and get a ceasefire, that was not going to happen if he appeared 100% behind Zelenski, he was hoping Putin would take the bait. I think the gloves might be off now as Putin has not caved in. Zelenski is not stupid and he knows he can either sell the minerals to the US or just let Putin eventually take them. I know which road I would go down. Europe was never in this as they would never put boots on the ground, and neither will the US, but the deal is probably the closest thing to US boots on the ground that they are likely to get. Lets hope it works.

It's the same reason he wants Canada and Greenland. If he could expand the US and make it wealthier then he would cement a place in history that's the polar opposite of where he's heading now.
I read a headline that said "Trump has left the US more divided" ... to which my immediate thought was "He's left?" But no, the headline was just badly worded and should have read "US has become more divided under Trump" or similar.
Yes but he's not going to get Canada and Greenland, but he certainly doesn't want China or Russia getting them. He see's them as the next step that might happen. I think Canada is pretty safe but Greenland I'm not so sure.
The idea is, American folks will be going to the Ukraine to do the mining, that will deter Putin from further bombing, as he would not want to kill any Americans and cause something, therefore Ukraine folks would not be killed either.

Oh, I agree. I have just asked my library to purchase an about-to-be-published book called Original Sin by Jake Tapper on the topic of what officials hid about Biden and his competency. I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing with the headline. I was just reading it in a way the writers did not intend ... or maybe they did, to create clickbait.
