What is this tree please?

    Was this tree planted or is it just one thats grown up at the side of the road?

    This is at Cressage where there is a bridge crossing across the Severn.

    Sorry to be such a bother but it is such a pretty tree.

    I would go with the cherry consensus, although I wouldn't dream of being able to tell you which type. My guess would be its self seeded, possibly dropped by a bird or a stone thrown out of the window by a passing motorist!!

    What I can do is show you a photo of my cherry tree, flowering now and give you all the details about it. It might be near enough to the one you've seen!!

    its a cherry cerasus maynard mini stem patio terracotta ( so the label tells me!!)

    its a self fertile, dwarf dessert cherry, black fruit. shouldn't reach more than 2 metres tall.

    I planted it last summer and it looks like this now!

    Update on tree at cressage. My friend took this picture today showing the cherry fruit. thank you all again for helping. He has chosen to not have one afterall with drainage a problem.
