What is this tree/shrub with red berries?

We've just cleared an area full of broom and a number of small trees and shrubs have revealed themselves. I've been able to identify everything apart from this. The berries look very bright red much more so than the the picture conveys.

A lovely shrub

Thanks for such a quick response. I think I have the birds to thank for planting. Lovely flowers to look forward to in spring.
