What is wrong with some people

I also grew up on a council estate. In the early 1950s having a 'phone was considered something of a luxury and so on street corners there were alarm boxes in order to call the fire brigade if an emergency arose. Once in a blue moon the glass was smashed and the fire brigade called out needlessly, but it was the subject of condemnatory comment for weeks afterwards. Can anyone imagine such a thing being left unvandalised for more than five minutes these days?
