Is this the Bible to gardening that I see?! I love this! I've bookmarked it for reference because it seems like it'll be really, really helpful.

Encourages the stork to sprout again, which you can then harvest as "Spring Greens"

To get back to the question of "what to do in your garden right now?" I think getting wet is what I would be:thud:

I think we're all suffering from this problem at the moment Landimad. My lawns resemble bogs.

Well looks like chasing of leaves is the order of the day.:autlvs:

If the wind don't get up to much I might be able to bag me a good amount for the wire leaf mould pile.:hapfeet:

          Just some random thoughts:

Digging (rough digging, let the frost do the work)

Preparation for hard landscaping. I'm removing a few inches of topsoil where I want paths. The topsoil is going on the new "Beds" to raise them a bit, and the paths are lowered a bit, and I find this works well for my clay soil.

          Pruning?

Spike lawn with a form to improve drainage

Catalogue reading - choose seeds / plants for next year.

Plan - vegetable rotation planting and ornamental planting

Order your seed potatoes (may be a shortage next spring 'coz of lousy 2012 season)

After the overnight frosts and the heavy rain which followed, I feel it only right to stay off the ground until better weather arrives.
It has gone from hard (not able to get fork or spade into), to so wet that the clods stick to your wellies like a cow pat freshly deposited.
Have pondered over the seed catalogues and looked into veg rotation to which I have not changed what I had already decided to do which is keep rotation the same as before.
I will be digging out some of the border and infilling with stuff from one of the beds as and when I am able to.

I know that the frost is down on the ground, but it has been a good time for me to finish the pruning of the shrubs and clearing up leaves which have not been done earlier.
Turned out the compost bins and put them back so they can carry on rotting down.
Moved the log pile and cleared the vermin from underneath. My friend the Robin was with me all the time looking to get in on the act with free meals.

Found a bit of Hazel to coppice, so that done went on to put more bark chippings down. Then got the grass mowed, first this year as the sun was out. Temp. 12 degrees C and greenhouse went up to 17 degrees C opened up and ventilated through.
Swept the big paths and cleared away more leaves that have been hidden by frames and stuff leaning against the fences.

Hopefully it won't be to cold, should get out and pick up all the limbs and twigs the trees have fallen all over due to recent winds/storms, keep it to 3 wheelbarrel fulls then quit. Cut back some sedums in the slop area. Perhaps rake a few more places. Still leaving my spent hydrangens flowers up.

-8 degrees this morning, so no digging and definitely no work outside unless it involves a large fire to warm myself with.

You could always set your compost heap alight.
