    Here it is, "sweet a pair of teeth" silly name, not sure where they get them from, but very scrawny, waiting for it to bush out a bit, or maybe just grow another leaf, if it can manage it.

      And you think yours is scrawny?
      Still, mine was a freebie - I have potted it on and given it a much needed drink.

            @Sargan
            I am normally quite happy with Aviditas, the commercial name for an indeterminate F1 variety from Suttons. Fruits are plum sized, very good quality, and the plants very productive.
            The drawback is that one cannot get the seeds. I normally buy 3 plants for £12, and clone them. Tthey come grafted and, once planted with mycorrhizal fungi they are normally quite robust.
            I also like Lizzano, again from Suttons, and they sell the seeds. It is bush variety, again plum tomatoes. Normally pretty good but I found it needs space, sun and good air circulation to taste good. It does fine in large pots and soil, but it is not suitable as a filler in tight spaces, as I found out.
            Honeycomb is also a decent variety, quite robust, yellow plums.

            I grow them all outdoors, in London, and tipically they will be productive until mid-october.

              @Aldo ,
              My ears pricked up at the mention of Honeycomb...
              Is it as good or sweeter than Sungold?
              I would be interested to watch the progress of your crop please,

              Well not, maybe now its been planted, but you can bury the stems quite deeply if they have become elongated.

                I cannot compare with Sungold because I have never tried them, sorry :)
                I have not taken any pictures this year yet, but here are a few from last year, taken between half July and the first week of August I think.
                Honeycomb are the orange ones, the red ones are Aviditas.

                    They are very reliable plants. To be frank I am not very brave or inventive when it comes to tomatoes, unlike many others here. I tend to stick with what worked in the past.
                    Perhaps if I had a bit more garden space I would try more things.
                    This year the only new one will be "baby boomer", a bush variety. I gave one a good spot and I am curious to see how it will do, but all the rest is from the old guard

                      As we are now at end of growing season ..... would welcome suggestion for what to look to grow next year.
                      Unheated Greenhouse, grown in Quadgrows.

                      I'm after taste - don't need huge crops

                      In previous years after advice here I have grown Shirley - always big crops .. but looking to see if I can get better flavour in a standard size tomato.

                      Thinking of:

                      Honeymoon (possibly instead of Shirley)

                      Sungold F1

                      Santonio

                      Related Q, my wife always mentions how tasty the large tomato slices are on holiday in Greece or Spain ... can you match that in UK ? if so what variety?

                        Yes the above are a good choice, did you avoid blight this year? The two threads of interest will be the 2021 Tomato Taste thread and Blight Resistant Tomatoes.

                        I tend to think a beefsteak type grown outside in proper soil is the answer to that, but I don't think many beefsteak types grow, or crop well, outside in the UK.

                        Tastewise is seems absolutely boring the options we've got here.
                        Sungold F1 is the good one.
                        For taste it's better to buy seeds from specialized collections (mostly private persons sending out by post, unfortunately don't know if there any any in uk). There so many delicious varieties coming from USA, Russia, France.
                        There are Star Wars named ones - I'm trying next season or season after Rebel Starfighter VT16 and Marsha's Starfighter Beefsteak.
                        Alice's Dreams - shared opinions - some people say tasteless, others - super delicious.
                        Purple Sunrise - good marks given by many growers. Can be continued endlessly. Shame my greenhouse doesn't fit many :)
