    I've made a start.
The salmon has in a foil container with red pepper, onions and garlic.
    Drizzled with chilli oil.

I have new potatoes ready and I will partly boil them with mint before adding them to the rest.

I'll put the lid on the barby but take it off for the last bit of cooking.

Sounds really good....keep us updated!! :dbgrtmb:

As @Selleri said, potatoes, imo ,are best pre cooked completely and then chucked on for the final stages to get smoked and charred.

      Enjoy!

A lot of information there Upsy, I need to digest all that, if you get my meaning,
        So this time is experimental.

This meal might turn out so perfect that you won't need to make any future adjustments at all. :fingers crossed:

Ok, just eaten it, it wasn't bad actually.
            Things to remember next time.
Start the fire earlier, it's still hot and I could cook it all again if I wanted to.

Yes Upsy, the potatoes were not cooked through, they got virtually no cooking on the barbecue.

The salmon came out really good, just how I like it, with a slight amount of heat from the chilli oil.

Found out you don't get smoke unless some of the food actually falls through the grill, although I think for fish, maybe, a finer grill would be better.

@pete I have never grilled fish right on the grill - you're right, it can easily fall through!

If you burn things, just remember that restaurants charge lots of money for "blackened fish" ;)

                Well done @pete. :hapydancsmil:

Was the fish completely wrapped in the foil container? If so if you open it for the final few minutes it will take on that smokey flavour.

You could also lay in on pierced foil for cooking too, although a finer mesh grill would be best.
                :)

The fish was in one of those foil containers you get for freezing home made pies etc, they come with a cardboard lid, obviously I didn't use the lid:biggrin:
But I did put the barbeque lid on until the end.

I think I need to get some hickory chips because I wasn't getting any smoke at all, until some of my veg fell through the grill.:dunno:

Two lots of cooking tonight :phew:. Meals on wheels and then our own dinner. I usually do meals on wheels on Sundays but we have guests tomorrow - friend's 80th.

Meals on wheels was a simple dish of pan fried trout fillet (done with butter, lemon juice and ginger) and accompanied by new pots and French beans. The trout was wrapped in individual portions in foil with some of the cooking juice poured on.

For us it was just a stir fry. veggies:- celery, carrot, courgette, cabbage (white), French beans, mushrooms done with onion, garlic and ginger. I accompanied that with sliced chicken breast marinated in a Korma style paste and quickly stir fried. Fresh fruit to follow.

Well done @shiney ...:love30:, but not only could I not muster up the energy to cook all that....we couldn't eat all that in this hot weather either!!
Yesterday I felt physically sick sitting out on our patio as the aroma of our neighbours Sunday roast wafted over our way!!! [IMG]

Today homemade Quiche, potato salad and a side salad. Ice cream and fresh fruit salad for afters.

Family tradition- crisps! In my youth crisps were a treat for birthdays and school parties. I have dutifully passed on the tradition of deprived childhood and my Teenager never ever had a bag in her packed lunch.

Instead, when the holidays start, I buy a load and we skip lunch and just munch the different varieties from the dedicated crisps bowls until we feel slightly sick. So today it was Ready Salted, cheese puffs, cheese balls, bombay mix, super artificial "bacon rashers" and hot Indian ones are still unopened. A bliss!

OK, it's getting late so perhaps new potatoes, butter, dill and Polish herring will materialise for dinner. Summer food at it's best. Plus a bowlful of own baby plum tomatoes. :dancy:

Spag Bol --- maybe not appropriate for a hot day (too hot to do a salad accompaniment) but I fancied it, and there´s enough to freeze a few portions. Slice of melon to finish. Might open a bottle of white Rioja ... life´s hard if you don´t weaken.

One day more - one day less.
