Pizza! I always make a double dough and freeze the extra in blobs- it's so convenient to just defrost the blobs whilst the oven and the treasured pizza stone are heating up, and then slap on whatever we fancy. :)

Fun fact of the day- in Naples, the birthplace of pizza, kids' favourite is Margherita with hot dog sausages and chips on top. Yes, really. :yikes: Here is a recipe to create this delight at home. Personally I go for too much peperoni, olives, herbs and mozzarella. :dbgrtmb:

Today it's roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with the veg.
For pudding it's sort of a trifle.

Strawberry blancmange on top with ice cream. The Swiss roll had use by date of the 11th of February this year but still ok.

Proper food!.. If the swiss roll was frozen before it's sell by date then I'd say good on you.
With some items like cheese i don't care what dates on it. If it looks and smells good I'll eat it ;)

                                Just for info:-

There used to be 'Sell By', 'Use By' and 'Best Before' dates but the 'Sell By' was dropped by producers some years ago.

'Sell By' was being confused by the public but some suppliers may still label them as such. This was only on there for stock rotation control for use in shelf stacking..

'Use By' is only normally put on highly perishable goods such as meat, fish and prepared salads and those dates are put on under recommendation from the Health Dept. and should never be exceeded unless you have previously frozen them. They must never be sold after that date. That's why supermarkets drop the price as it approaches that date.

'Best Before' is just a guideline and on a lot of things you can use them after that date quite easily if you have stored them properly.

You will see that nowadays most fruit and veg don't have a date on them and it is up to you to decide if it is OK to use.
