In the constant heat down here, it is not fanciable to eat big hot meals, more light/salady stuff. Certainly not cooking them oneself! We rarely eat desserts, although T'other Half likes ice cream/sherbert occasionally ... like today.

I cook hot meals any time of year. :hapydancsmil:

I made a very nice cream of courgette and mushroom soup last night - good hot or cold. Softened a red onion, some fresh ginger, then chucked in a little hot water, two freshly picked chopped courgettes, about 300g of mushrooms (not used in the previous night's stir fry), a tin of 60% coconut milk and veggie granules to taste. Total prep and cooking time - 20 minutes. One minute with a hand held blender and we had a thick, very smooth tasty soup. Enough for six servings.

That was followed by ribeye steak, new potatoes, and freshly picked beans (accompanied by freshly picked chillies for me).

Dessert was home grown blackberry and apple (last year's crop from the freezer) crumble (sugar and gluten free) with Greek yoghurt.

For today I shall make a smooth chicken liver pate for lunch (enough for six lunches) with toast made from hot fresh bread bought at 7 a.m. this morning from the village baker (I had to check it out immediately I got home so had a couple of slices with lots of butter.).

            Making lamb curry for tonight.

The soup yesterday would have been a meal for us with a bread roll. Same today, the pate and bread would be a main meal. ;)

Today I will have a protein shake for lunch. Tonight I will have a jacket potato with cheese and onion and T'other Half a bowl of pasta with spicy/chili olive oil.

I still cook hot meals with the hot weather, but yesterday's turkey, stuffing, peas and sprouts was from the freezer and the rest was fresh. All i had to do was put all the veg in the pressure cooker to cook and the turkey and stuffing heated up.:)
The other times it's when i have to turn the oven on to cook the chicken chips. But i haven't got room for one of those air fryers.
                :)

A month ago my microwave stopped working so had to buy another. But i missed having to be able to heat things up in it. These days don't do much else with it, i used to make cakes but it's easier just to buy them and cheaper sometimes.

There are some of us who don't like spending so much time in the kitchen ... or eating so much food.

On the other hand, I did enjoy cooking and have written a few cookbooks, including ...

It's good to have a range of different likes and dislikes amongst people as it makes for an interesting life. :)
