The rhubarb is doing very well now and as I have lost my market for selling it I have been delivering it (leaving on doorstep) to elderly isolated people in the village.

Tonight we are having cream of broccoli soup made with coconut milk. Then I shall be having marinated pan fried lamb chops and Mrs S shall be having chicken casserole with chick peas and carrots and both of us shall have it with spiced rice and dry fried sliced cauli with sliced almonds fried in the pan. I shall have fresh mango for dessert.

The fish and chip shop in the village just reopened after having closed for three weeks as they couldn't understand the rules. We rarely have fish and chips but decided to support our local enterprise. The sign outside said only one person in the shop at a time. I phoned our order - one large cod and chips to be shared by us - and it was coming out of the oil as I walked in the door. It was really good.

That was at 7 p.m. and at 10 p.m. the butcher delivered a whole salt brisket that weighed 10kg. I always used to salt it myself but decided that I might not have enough ingredients handy and didn't want to shop for them. It came unrolled so I had to roll it myself. A difficult job without the proper twine and I was also out of practice as I hadn't rolled a brisket for 60 years. :old:

I always bought my brisket rolled but the butcher didn't have the time as they've been working 14 hour days and delivering at night. It was a very large brisket so the thick end was too thick for rolling properly so I cut that into slabs. The rest I rolled, portioned it and it is all now in the freezer. It took me about 45 minutes of fairly hard slog. :phew: We'll get about thirty meals out of it. :blue thumb:

Ps....I hasten to add ...yesterday's BBQ was meat cooked for an additional 2 more meals, apart from the 2 sausages we each ate yesterday.
As it has been commented on about our big appetites :heehee:

Today ( no pics) we made a bean and mushroom Frittata with the remainder of the sausages.

The chicken has been frozen to add a BBQ flavour to a future rice dish that hubs will concoct.
                            :snork:
