    Hans has asked me to place this pic on here and here is the description:-


    I obtained this plant in tenerife 2 years ago, it flowers freely but they only last 1 or so days. the plant is about 8 ins high and the flowers are about 30mm wide. i would love to know what it is called. thanks

    My computer must have been throwing a wobbly at mid day..I even cut and pasted the properties link of the pic into a new window and it failed to open?

    beats me? the leaves look a bit camellia ish? but the flowers look buzy lizzie ish..to put it technically [​IMG]

    Try Catharanthus (vinca) its a possible, but I dont know which type

    Thanks to all for your help. Pete was spot on with his identification. After some reading on the web - I shall look at this little plant with even more wonder. It, or certainly varieties of it, are used in medicine. Anti cancer drugs and others are obtained from it. It was used by our ancestors for all sorts of things. It is very poisonous, if ingested, and the leaves are hallucinogenic if smoked. All very interesting. Once again many thanks.
