      I used to have quite a few of the 'interesting ' Digitalis. That one was Digitalis ferruginea gigantea. Used to grow to about 2.5 metres with numerous stems from a single plant. Small flowers but lovely close up............

        The Butia flower spike is very slow and I am not sure whether the cold will slow it down further or not open at all, much later than last year,

          @strongylodon , was the butia really dry over summer, it could have slowed it down.
          Be interesting to see if it just carries on growing the flower spike next year or just aborts it over winter.
          The cerifera looks really good, nice clean plant.

          @pete It was watered weekly but it may not have been enough due to the sandy soil.
