What's looking Exotic 2025

Not really exotic but I wanted a Fatsia Camouflage for a while but ridiculous prices for a small plant in a 9" pot put me off........until today when we went to B&Q and there were 10 of these. Couldn't resist one this size at £15!

 

Do you think its looking darker now, the flowers have aged a bit and changing colour.

 

Yes, definitely. I wouldn't be surprised if it's camera differences. It's looking good! How big is that pot? It must be enormous!

 

Its two plants, both in 8in pots.
I think they might have rooted through the bottom by now.

 

@CarolineL , at risk of going OTT on the subject, but I spotted this today, a one day old flower and a three day old flower.

 

That is a lovely colour. Is that the Grand Marnier?

This is the first time I have seen an Agave in flower here, in the garden of a large house near the Swanage seafront.

 

I saw these recently in the Range, who is going to pay £80 for one of these? They were dry and pot bound I couldn't see them surviving anywhere. The labels are Homebase. Phoenix were the same price plus some Eucalyptus, maybe a job lot bought from them as they are closing.

 

The Range brought the Homebase name, intellectual property and a number of stores out of administration in 2024. So could well be stock from a store closure.

Alright, not here, in Perth, Western Australia. My brother's agave in flower, with a lorikeet eating nectar.


Closer to home... My dinner plate hibiscus bought this year as plugs from Parkers has its first flower. More a side plate, but not bad.

 

Agave attenuata? The swan neck Agave, I believe.
Nice, never seen one in the flesh.
