This is making me laugh - a Brug cutting in bloom.............
[IMG]Brugmansia noid by longk48, on Flickr

I could understand it if it was taken from above the fork but they were just side shoots from low down. Four have buds on whilst the fifth cutting hasn't forked.

As far as I know the fork idea only really applies to seedlings.
Once a plant becomes adult any cuttings are adult.

Well, a long-held ambition realised at last! Walking under my Plumeria 'tree' in bloom. OK, I cheated and it's in a half-barrel so it can be moved into a sheltered spot during the winter, but it's better than nothing  Come to think of it, I hadn't foreseen needing a ladder to be able to sniff the perfume

Mine is just about coming to the end and has added two foot long branches, I am not sure whether I will be able to keep it next year as it is over 4ft tall now.

Where do you overwinter it, Strongy? Does it react like Aeonium if you chop it, and sprout new growth from the cuts?

@noisette47 I overwintered it in the conservatory and I will do this winter but if it puts on another two feet of growth next year it will be too tall to keep as there are four Bougies and a couple of lemons there as well. I have never tried cutting any of it.

There's a coincidence...when I was comparing flower colour with a gardening friend here, she was all for me shortening my 'tree' :-) I remember doing cuttings as a desperate last measure to save former Frangipanis. Not as easy as t'Internet would have you believe!

I have rooted plumeria in the past, not recently , I was once sent a piece from Hawaii mid winter ,needless to say that just rotted ,but fresh cuttings taken in the growing season do work.
After drying the cut end for a while.

Probably 50:50 multi purpose and sharp sand.
Bottom heat but not too humid so an open top.
                        Bit like rooting cacti.
