Thanks for that, I was wondering what they were for a while now. If they are invasive they have bluebells to contend with first! Happy for some ground cover at the mo

It's not too much of a problem but you want to watch out for them spreading all over the garden. The birds plant the seeds for you as well (commonly known as Lords and Ladies) so you may have trouble controlling it.

Your variety seems to be maculatum and, if you are quite happy with arums, then you may prefer italicum.

The celandines in a roadside verge were looking good for a day or two before the parish grass cutter came along and mowed all the flower heads off grrrrrrrrrrrr!

We were out walking yesterday and we were pleased to find these (we knew where to look :) ). They would normally be in full bloom by now.

                    What's everyone looking for?

A field full of Pulsatilla! That's not the norm!

It'll soon be Fritillary Sunday in a local village - I'll try to get there this year. Anyway, here's my first Snakeshead Frit of the year.................

Apparently it is - on this particular hillside. It's known as the Pasque Flower walk! That was only a small part of it and they were interspersed with miniature cowslips (no more than 2" - 3" high). The whole area is very chalky. I don't know if it makes a difference .

The Erysimum 'Chelsea Jacket' I posted on Wednesday, saying it should soon flower, has started to flower today. It flowers until late summer and the flowers change colour during the season.

Hi Peter, I have two distinct groups of Fritillarias Imperialis but they are planted in the ground. The first of around 4 Fritillarias are deeply planted under a Lilac and have been there for over 20 years. They are well ahead of the second group of around 20 which were planted in a circle several years ago in the main walk around border. They are less sheltered than the first group which might account for the difference in the timing of the flowering.:snork:

My Imperialis appears to be bloomless, although the Persica is looking good for a few days time.
